Second week's lessons 9/8 - 9/12 - 2008

I am glad you are in my class, and I enjoyed our week together last week. This week we want to get going and start working on our reading, vocabulary, and writing. Do you have all your materials for class (SSR book)? Remember I will always be here in the mornings to help you or answer any questions you may have.

Monday 9/8
1. Check out literature book and survey it
2. Read and discuss “15 Study Tricks”
3. Prefixes – make note cards and study (xv - xvi) (homework)

Tuesday 9/9
1. Read and edit “The Race” paper – Revise and type final draft (homework)
2. Lecture: “Literary Terms” ***notes go in spiral notebook***

Wednesday 9/10
1. "The Race" Paper due
2. Finish “Literary Terms” lecture
3. Read and discuss "Honesty Policy"
4. Read "The Interlopers" pages 8 - 13 (homework)

Thursday 9/11
1. Handout – Literary Terms (a quick reference for the year)
2. Review and discuss Reading
3. Study Prefixes --- quiz 9/15 (homework)

Friday 9/12
1. Portfolio Exchange and set up Portfolio
2. Pre-Writing Assessment
3. Read and discuss “Test Taking Tips”
