Welcome Back - Week one's lessons 9/2 - 9/5 - 08

This is your second year of high school - you should know how high school works. I will usually be here and ready to go by 7:00 am to handle questions and make up work. Make up Test are done at 7:25 am; don't be late. Please come and see me if have any questions or problems. Let's be a "Team" no "I" in team- we work together, and I do want to work with you.

Print the lessons every week and glue stick them in your spiral notebook. (points)

Tuesday 9/2
1. Introductions and phone numbers
2. Discuss and sign Guidelines and read Cyrus Literature List
3. Read “How Much is Attending Class Worth?”
4. Fill out Harvard Resume (homework)

Wednesday 9/3
1. Overview of class
2. Read “I Can!” and “Risk”
3. Read “MLA Format” and “The Race”
4. Write about a positive lesson (like in "The Race").
Use MLA Format - Type double spaced: *** Think about a time where you over came something. Who helped you and what did you learn? Describe the situation and what the lesson was. (Due Friday 9/5)

Thursday 9/4
1. Review and discuss Harvard Resume
2. Read and discuss “Bill Gates Speech”
3. Explain “Marvin” comic
4. Grammar Quiz, “Spell Checker” (homework due tomorrow)

Friday 9/5
1. “The Race” paper due
2. Review quiz at the board
3. Set up Reading Cards (10 points a day for book in class and reading)
4. Vocabulary starts Monday

***Extra credit*** Bring your three subject notebook to me with the blog (lessons) glue sticked into the first section of the notebook in the morning or the beginning of lunch before Friday for twenty-five extra credit points.
